A Million Dollars a Day – What will you do?

The Sun sets on one year, and prepares to rise again in a new one. What will next year see you work towards?

Happy New Year everyone. Bear Jew Aboard is back this week with a way to help you figure out what your new year will be about. We also take time to thank all the people who have helped this past year with all that we have accomplished. Thank you for tuning in, and we hope you enjoy!

To Boldly Go….

Hello again everyone, and thank you for tuning into Bear Jew Aboard’s weekly update. After a slightly less than smooth sail we have arrived in Townsville, Australia for our re-fit period. Since we have traveled from one land to another, explored new waters, and gone on numerous journeys not knowing the result they would yield I decided to make a video honoring the explorer soul of this vessel. It is my sincerest hope Paramount does not sue me, and that you all enjoy. Take a look and let me know!

A Day in Gaire

The second to last day of outreach I was able to go ashore and mingle with the villagers. It was a day of classes, rugby, and balloons. It may sound weird, but it was more fun than I can say, and meaningful in ways I never imagined. Words can never thank the people of Gaire enough for showing teaching me so much. I hope this video can show a bit of grateful I am for their kindness and friendship. Check out the last day ashore on outreach for the Bear Jew.

A Tribute to Nurse’s Day

Hello thee everyone, and welcome back to Bear Jew Aboard. International Nurse’s week just past, and I thought it would be good to make a tribute to all the nurses who have contributed over the past few outreaches. Nurses make up the backbone of the Papua New Guinea medical system, and comprise the core of the medical outreach team on the MV YWAM PNG. Check out this week’s installment to see just a fraction of all that Nurses do on board the ship, and in the country.

An electrician, a saw mill, and perseverance

Hi there everyone. Thank you again for checking out Bear Jew Aboard. For the last year the ship’s Electrician,Derik Van Staden, has been working on a project to repair a saw mill in one of the villages of Central Province. It is an undertaking that has brought parts in from all over the world, taken up hundreds of dollars, and – as you will see here – a day filled with bush engineering and perseverance. Spirits were nearly crushed, but see how the engine department on the YWAM PNG doesn’t give up in this week’s installment.

Bear Jew Aboard Observes ANZAC Day

Hello again everyone, and as always thank you for tuning in to Bear Jew Aboard. This week we look back at ANZAC day. While we were on outreach during the actual holiday, we were able to visit the Commonwealth Cemetery here in Port Moresby. It is dedicated to the soldiers who were killed defending PNG from the Japanese during WWII. Visiting it was an incredible and emotional experience on multiple level. See for yourself. Hope you enjoy!

Fixing Feet Left and Right

Hello again everyone and welcome back to yet another instalment of Bear Jew Aboard. We’re back to making orthotics in this week’s video. At the end of outreach two in Milne Bay Province, two DTS students Kelly (Singapore), and Lisa (Germany) asked me if I could help a young man who couldn’t walk well. His Achilles tendon was so tight it pulled his foot into a permanent toe point. I contacted my friend, Ms. Dorcas Yemi Sholanke of FootWorks Podiatry in Singapore, and she walked me through what I needed to make. She also instructed me the young man should work to loosen his ligaments, to prevent the issue from worsening. Using her guidance, a few tools and supplies, and a lot of caffeine we got something together that seems to be doing the job. We also learned a bit about another layer of good that comes from helping people. Hope you enjoy!

Passover on the YWAM PNG

Hello there everyone, and welcome back. Passover has just wrapped up, and I hope everyone had a great holiday. It was a special time on board the ship as we managed to have a Passover Seder. Here is a video that talks about the preparation that went into Pesach aboard the ship. It was a little different than what you’d typically do for Passover, but no less meaningful. Also, I give a brief synopsis of the Drash I gave since it was both Passover and Shabbat. Hope you guys enjoy!

March in Review

Hi there everyone, and welcome back to a Bear Jew Aboard. We are back with original productions, and this one is a brief summary of some highlights from March 2018. There is footage of work we did in villages, an impromptu party held off the side of the ship, and descriptions of the fine work the crew is doing. In addition there are previews for other videos coming out soon. Shot and uploaded from Port Moresby this update brings you scenes from outreaches 2 and 3 of this year. I hope you enjoy.
