Well Hello there, and thank you for visiting! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Adam “the Bear Jew” Klein. Starting in January of 2018 I will be joining the YWAM PNG. It is a hospital ship that provides medical care to the impoverished people of Paua New Guinea. YWAM stands for Youth with a Mission, its a Christian led organization that allows for young people to provide assistance of all kinds to communities around the world. Based on my nickname you can surmise I am of the Jewish faith. You may be asking, “If you’re Jewish why are you working aboard a ship run by a Christian Mission?” The answer is simple:
- Years in service of the US Merchant Marine and US Navy have made me a fairly decent engineer of ships
- I enjoy helping people, think it’s something we should all do more of
- Service aboards YWAM ships helps a lot of people, and at the moment it seems where I can do the most good
That is all there is to it. Will it be interesting being one of the only (if not the only) practicing Jew aboard aboard the vessel? Absolutely, but it’ll be more educational and entertaining than anything.
I look forward to using this webpage to share my experiences with you, brining you on the journey with me, and create a network of support for my endeavor, the crew of the YWAM PNG, and the mission of helping people in general.
Let me begin by showing you around.
Engine Room Log is where I will be providing regular updates on what is going on board. Please check it for videos, photos, and articles of all the different happenings aboard the ship. I am still unsure of what the availability and quality of internet will be, but I will do my best to keep everyone up to date on the good work the ship and her crew will be doing.
Radio Room is how you get ahold of me. Please use the contact form to reach out to me and let me know what your thoughts are, and if you have any requests or questions pertaining to the mission of YWAM.
Fill the Treasure Chest provides links you can use to support myself and the YWAM mission.
About YWAM is just what it sounds like. An introduction to YWAM ships. Learn about the great things they do, and how many people they help.
